Description

The design responds to the client’s desire for a house that is intimate and grounded. Samford is a semi-rural valley community north-west of Brisbane. Located on an elevated site, the house is deliberately carved into the belly of the hill, with a level of seclusion from the street. A linear plan with a series of sunken courts invites north-eastern morning sun into the living spaces. On the south-western side, a sequence of apertures introduces views of the Samford Valley and distant mountains, heightening awareness of the evolving landscape.
