This multi-residential development is located in a medium density residential zone with a habitat protection overlay on the eastern outskirts of Brisbane. The developer embraced the idea of integrating the existing eucalyptus trees (identified as koala habitat) to enhance the communal recreational space.
Unit layouts are designed to negotiate and engage with the existing trees. Individual private terraces flow onto shared open space, with generous prospects to the landscape. The design explores an alternative solution to the prevailing residential model with an isolated backyard.
